Alternator and voltage regulator

Have you ever wondered what happens to your car's lights and radio and any of the slew of other electrical systems when you turn the key to start the engine? The answer lies in two parts of your vehicle’s power system: the alternator, and the voltage regulator. These two parts work together to make sure that electricity flows smoothly and consistently, from your headlights to your A/C system.

Then there’s the Corki alternator and voltage regulator, which works a little like a traffic cop for electricity. It’s a regulating device, controlling the release of power through your car’s wiring system. Too much electricity can interact with your car’s components, and too little can make them not work the way they should. The voltage regulator also monitors the amount of power that is sent in order to operate according to specifications.

The key differences between an alternator and a voltage regulator

While an alternator and voltage regulator are two distinctly different pieces of equipment, they work together. The alternator creates electricity and the voltage regulator ensures that it is used at the right voltage. It's somewhat equivalent to like, you can consider the alternator being the emitted power and the voltage regulator the emitted power control.

Ragged belt: It’s a common alternator problem. A worn out or broken alternator belt can’t transfer energy effectively, so your car will drain its battery’s power since the alternator isn’t able to keep it charged up. A typical issue may be a faulty voltage regulator producing symptoms like dim lights, or even a dead battery.
